I've been seeing rather frequently that individuals purchase pipes from their birth year and I'm starting to look that direction, just for kicks. Seen just a few on Ebay. (Not sure the best location to search for said pipe.)

My question is: how do I know it's my birth year? Seller in this case says that the markings on the bottom indicate such, but they don't tell me a thing.

Can someone enlighten me on the "codes" used to indicate production year on Castello so I could confirm this for myself?

Thanks

From Castello -- Pipes : Logos & Markings - http://www.pipephil.eu/logos/en/logo-castello.html
Dating: 41 inside the castle emblem = 1988
Only the higher quality pipes are stamped with that date reference (starting from the smooth "Castello" grade). Lower grades as Sea Rock, Old Antiquari or Trade Mark pipes are near impossible to date.
The castle stamping with a number inside the castle was introduced in 1987 (the 40th anniversary of Castello).

so unless you are a youngster probably difficult
