Friends of mine who live in Carmel, Indiana (dubbed the Hollywood of the Midwest) tipped me (a true Bing Crosby admirer) to the fact that The Palladium there has in its Great American Songbook Foundation Archives collection one of Bing Crosby's pipes and one of his hats:

The pipe appears to be a Sasieni Two-Dog lumberman.

Both the pipe and the hat were gifted to The Palladium's Artistic Director, Michael Feinstein, by the Crosby family some 15-years ago.

Mr. Crosby could, indeed, have smoked whatever pipes he chose; however, he wasn't one to showboat high-end brands. He liked what he liked (e.g., the Merchant Service Special which was not by any measure high-end) in pipes and simply enjoyed them.

Was this Michael Feinstein a pianist at some point in the past? Someone of that name opened for Liza Minnelli on my last tour in 1987, might be the same guy.
