Big McClelland TAD

So I have taken on a second job (kind of) and came upon some extra cash and I saw that pipesandcigars.com had a sale for 10% all McClelland tins all month long, so I took the chance to stock up on the two Frogs that I havent tried (On the Town and Across the Pond), and I'll finally have the chance to try out some Blue Mountain, and I also picked out a couple of blends from their Syrian Latakia line, both the Full Balkan and the Super Balkan. Anyone have any experience with these last two blends? In any case, I can't wait for it to get here!

mcClelland never ceases to amaze me. The Frogs, 3 Oaks Syrian and now their VA blends. I see what people say about "Ketchup", but to me it smells and tastes like good aged Virginia. But than again, I like my coffe black, my Scotch peaty and iodine and my cheese funky. I make omellettes with Brie and Camembert and top them with fresh basil and home made salsa.

I am really looking forward to the Blue Mountain, that stuff is always sold out when I try to find it, and this was a good opportunity to snag some on the cheap. Always looking forward to some Froggy as well.

Blue Mountain is very good. I bought an extra tin, and I still have a wee bit left in the jars. I haven't gotten into the other frogs yet, but I keep 2 tins of the 100g unopened at all times and a little leftover in the jars. I'm not real quick to try new things. I've thought about taking advantage and doing an order to stock on some more frogs and maybe, just maybe trying the Cellar or On The Town.

On The Town was too "perfumed" straight out of the tin, but aging it for sixth months really let things meld and settle down. Now its my to smoke. Across The Pond is just great aged or not! I can't wait to get a tin of this stuff again.

I am still really curious as to the Syrian Latakia Blends. I think the Super Balkan says it has perique in it, and I do loves me some perique. They sound really tasty but have heard nothing about them other than what is on the P&C website. Hopefully they will be here Monday or Tuesday, which is good cause I needs me a good Latakia fix right about now.

Pipe Novelist: I have a Super Balkan tin from 2005 and have literally only smoked a single bowl of it. My taste buds find it disgustingly nauseatingly awful. It's not a bad tobacco per se - but that McClelland ketchup taste hammers down on this one big time - not only in the smell but also in the taste. I hope jarring it for a year might dispell the tobacco devil...

Well the order came in today. Looking forward to smoking this stuff over the course of the cold months ahead. Would post up a picture but Rachel has the camera. Oh well. Ill be sure and give proper reviews when I get around to trying all of it. The only question is which one to open first? I popped a new latakia tin two days ago so its gonna be a couple of weeks before I get around to opening another one.
