Big Ben makes some very good smokers. Only have one of their dromedaries, but it is a regular in my rotation.

Does Big Ben lacquer the pipes?
Edit: I see applying lacquer is step seven in the process, as per Arno's posts. I guess the question becomes what impact does the lacquer have on the smoking quality of these pipes. There are several that I like. All variants of the Pipe Dan check mark style.
Love the blog Arno! Reading it makes me remember how much I miss living in Amsterdam :crying:
I've been flirting with Big Ben pipes forever, that Dutch precision. I've stopped short for the 9 mm filters on many of them, the weight on many, and the pricing compared to other good pipes. The French always lure me away with their handsome, spare designs and extra competitive prices. But to have a Dutch pipe on your rack is a real "feather in your cap."
Been eyeing the Big Ben pipes for awhile now but just haven't picked one up yet. The Charme Nature 042 and Ranger Nature Nosewarmer both really tickle my fancy. I'm sure one day I'll end up putting one of them in my pipe rack. ::
