I'm looking to try a few "cheaper" english blends. I like the idea of an english blend sometimes, I'd like to sock some back. I haven't tried a lot of them because there are some many blends to try and so little time.. so I usually stick to things I like more. I would like to have a good supply of a nice example of that type, that doesn't break the bank. Suggestions please.

I have not bought bulk yet as I have so many tins stored away, but I have been thinking about this same question and plan to get small samples of several Stokkebye (17 Luxury English, 52 Proper English, 306 Supreme Oriental) blends. Previous reply mentions Arango Balkan and that is also one I would sample. I know even when I find awesome deals, my per oz cost is a lot higher than bulk, so I may do this sampling myself sooner than later.

I'll second the PS Proper English. I enjoy it. I'd like to try the Luxury English next.

For medium strength I like PS English Luxury, and for full strength I second the motion on C&D Stradfordshire -- both in bulk. For a mild English, though it costs a little more, I'd still recommend Nat Sherman 536, a refined tinned blend with burley as a condiment. I also like C&D Tuttle Hall, in bulk.

Grand Croupier Boneyard is only $1.59 an ounce and it's really good.

Sutliff #502 Medium English is a good bulk blend, and not as heavily Sutliffed as some of their others. I haven't tried all of them, but the Sutliff match blends are usually decent also.

Stokkebye's english bulks, as mentioned by others, are also good stuff, I like English Luxury, which has burley.

Looks like this one is out of stock. P & C has one like this too, Best of the Rest English. I may hazzard a try on that one too, at 16 bucks a pound.

I do wonder though, would these blends basically taste the same if you ordered them twice?.. I guess you'd have to risk the 32 bucks to find out. It's still not too much to gamble.
