How can a simple billiard be so exciting?
Well, this thing has me spellbound!
I recently picked up this Wayne Teipen billiard and it has flipped my lid, blown my socks off, peeled my banana, skyrocketed my skull,

--- a pure paradise on my palate!
Not only does it smoke a glorious bowl, with impeccable engineering, but it tastes like nirvana too!
The finish is stunning, it simply doesn't come across in photography, to see it in the flesh is to be mesmerized by its intricate depths yet minimal crag, like blasted black velvet.
The stemwork in particular is truly top-shelf, this is the most comfortable pipe I've ever smoked.
There will be more of his pipes in my future!

To say I'm happy with it is an understatement.
I'm puttin' my pennies in the piggybank for a comission!

What's the difference between a guy who can carve a nice pipe and an artisan? An artisan can do classic shapes (like Wayne's lovat) as well as come up with original forms (like his "Puck"). Check out his "Available Pipes" page to see what I'm talking about.
Well done, Wayne.

Nice pipe, that blast is amazing. I love those little pinholes on very finely blasted pipes.

Yep.
Another thing my photos can't really convey is the absolute richness of the stain.
I mean it's rich,

like crazy deep good.
He mixes his own stain colors from powder.
Here's a much more indepth pipe review which is better written than I could ever pull off,

by Tom Spithaler ,

right here on pipesmagazine.com:

...here's the bit about the color,

and I agree 100% about that glow he's talking about...
The coloring, while not especially out of the ordinary, was beautiful. The pipe came with a certain ‘glow’ to it in both design and initial appeal. It gave off a very professional look, and would at first glance be put on the top shelf by any reputable smoking pipe reseller. In short, it made a fantastic first impression.
Not wanting to give away too much information on the subject of finish, Wayne did declare that he mixes all of his own stains from powder.
"I like the freedom mixing my own stains gives me and the nearly infinite options. I don’t want to reveal trade secrets on my methods so I don’t want to go into too much detail. I can say though that I employ several well-known techniques and a few that I’ve figured out on my own through experimentation."

I have one of Wayne's pipes - his Mad Hatter - and love the thing. A fantastic artisan. I need to get another.

Congrats, misterlowercase. That's a billiard, alright. A nice one. The blast is very unusual, too -- lots of little holes.
Glad to hear it smokes well for you.

Nice work Wayne! That beauty looks delightful. Any pipe that gets someone that jazzed up is well worth the price.

Wow! Thanks for the kind words. Having someone really happy about a pipe I've made is what I love the most about pipemaking so you've made my night.
