Thank you Dragon. :D
I hope nobody think i'm in here to sell my pipes. No I don't .I don't sell my pipes at all. After smoking and collecting pipes for years of the best brands and artisans worlwide i decided to add to my collection some pipes carved by me.I starded with some and now mines are becoming the most part of my collection. It's funny and will continue till my house can accept them 8O

Nice piece. Quick question: I've never carved briar (but want to)and was wondering, when shaping the pipe, can you see the grain to follow it, or does the grain only appear during the sanding process?

Best is to follow the grain when possible.Sand the ebauchon in one side, see the grain and drill the tobacco chamber (if possible) parallel to the grain, then do all the rest. Not always is possible, sometime i must to do a compromise

that is a simply beautiful pipe. If I was you, I'd hang onto all the ones I make as well, enjoy it!

@pentangle~ I started with some briar scraps/carve'in tampers, found I had a love for it (never having any wood-working/carve'in experience) and wanted to try my hand at pipe-make'in, started and continue to work with woods like Olive, Apricot & Pistachio to help the practice/costs of screw'in up many a project, lots of bench-pipes I smoke now while working on each new project, but there is really nothing like smoke'in one of your own builds or havign someone else admire and smoke one
I hope to push the limits of my freehand pipe-make'in skills (currently making pipes with just a hand-drill, dremel and files) to one day have my pipes good enough to sell

Hi Mark thanks. I found today in my warehouse a piece of briar that seems much better and it's long and large enough to accept a 25 mm tobacco chamber.I drilled it today and tomorrow after my job i will start to carve ........nice waiting

Very nice!! Wish I had some of the briar you've been using!! The stuff I have usually has a lot of sand pits etc and only so-so grain.

that is beautiful. i think you should sell them - make a few of each style so you can still have one and also make some profit for your craft.

That is fantastic! Bellissimo! Io non sono un grande fan di tubi altopiano cerchiati, ma che è sorprendente! (Don't F this translation up, Google!)

You have got some of the best briar I've seen in many of these pipes, pentangle, to say nothing of the skill you show in the carving. Bellissimo and whatever else Jason said!

i think i need to plan a trip to Italy to see you and some of your pipes in greater detail, it sounds like you have an impressive collection (enough for you to open your own small museum maybe)
