Benningtons in Boca Raton?

Dunno about the Boca location, but the Sarasota location is wonderful store. I like to go there just to smell the place. I have not yet sampled their house blends, though I think it long overdue for me to do just that.

Is the Benningtons chain only in Florida? Is it privately owned, or part of any other chain? Any Tinder Box connection?

I'd not heard of it before, but I'd like to visit if I'm at any of its locations. I haven't been to Florida in some years.

Only two locations.. the original in Sarasota, and the one in Boca Raton. They are still owned by the Bennington family.

If you get there, make sure you try the #15 Balkan Mixture, it's exceptional. I've been to the location in Sarasota many times. Great shop, and fine folks to do business with.

Only had about 15 minutes to run in as my wife and kid were on a time table. I had just enough time to chat up the guy there and get the # 10 for a buddy and #45 for me. The guy whom, I've forgotten his name was super nice and knew you Kevin. He'd been at that location a while. And man, 85% taxes are horrible here. 3oz for $18 bucks.
The one thing we talked about is that they are seeing a bunch of new pipe smokers come in. He had a larger selection of church wardens and pointed them out a few times thinking

It would hit home on my age/ demographic. He said many of the your 20 something's that come in are non-smokers and have never smoked anything before but want to buy a pipe and tobacco.
I hope I get a chance to go back while I'm down here for the rest of the week.

Great place, Jim is super nice, and as for the aeros, I like 31, 51 and Connoisseur's Choice.

I hope they never go out of business because I've tried a bunch of tinned tobacco and always keep going back to their house blends. Jim has never steered me wrong.
