Our featured interview on tonight’s Pipes Magazine Radio Show is with Ben Smith of Redeemed Pipes. Ben is a pipe restorer, buyer and seller. He helps collectors find the estate pipes they are looking for. He started Redeemed Pipes in 2022 at his first Chicago pipe show. He deals with all types of pipes from artisan to factory-made. He actually started smoking pipes in 2017, and soon became obsessed, and quickly progressed to collecting artisan pipes himself. At the top of the show Brian will discuss “Estate Pipe Buying 101”.

The show airs every Tuesday at 8:00pm eastern US time, and can be found at PipesMagazine.com and all podcast apps.

Had to laugh about Ben Smith being the most common name next to what I thought you said was Howard Johnson. You can only guess my disappointment that I found out you said John Smith and weren't referencing the bit from Blazing Saddles. Regardless it was fun to listen to the connection of hiking the mountains of Europe and restoring pipes for resale. There are some beauties for sure. Happy Trails!

Back to the previous week’s show with Nate King, I fully agree, make yourself approachable. A pipe show is a great place to break out of your shell if you’re not as outspoken because everyone at the show is accepting and interested in talking pipes and tobacco.

Ben’s hiking through Europe sounds like a fun adventure. It seems a lot of pipe people are into other niche hobbies. I’ve always liked his work with estate pipes. He always has some new interesting fun pipes to look at.

A big congratulations to Tom Kuhn and Pete Prevost on their Master of Pipes awards and Jeremy Reeves and Dave Peterson on their Doctor of Pipes awards. Having known Pete and Dave for quite some time I can say the awards are well deserved. They’re pillars of the community and some of the best guys I’ve ever met.

Thank you for another great show. Really enjoyed listening to the interview with Ben. I have done a lot of trades and purchases with him. He is always straightforward, honest and helpful. Every pipe that I got from him was clean and exactly as described. Doing business with him is a wonderful experience.

Thank you!

Ben, such a great dude. Every time I think of his business I think of the scammer in this video (which is the opposite of Ben):
