This is my daily smoker that has no name. It seems to be a well made pipe, possibly a second from Savinelli or Peterson? I think I paid $60 for it. I used Ballistol on the wood and it did an amazing job. I used that then som Flitz on the stem. I was shocked how well the Ballistol worked on the wood.

Yes, 'Ballistol' works well, but smells badly. I've made the experience that this oil prevents vulcanite/ebonite stems from fast oxidizing (and you wipe them thereafter with paraffin oil) even if they were exposed to (sun)light

That pipe has seen a lot of use!
One of my first pipes thousand year ago was a sandblased Denicotea Regatta, which I smoked several times a day. One day I made the mistake drawing off the stem when the stummel was still hot and the shank cracked. So I winded sewing silk around the cracked part of the shank and fixed it with superglue. And smoking this pipe went on as usual till I could buy me a new more expensive one. But the taste of my nearly smoked to death pipe was hardly to beat.
Last year I saw this old Denicotea model on ebay, but unfortunaley failed to get it.

Ballistol, huh? I always keep a canister for my hunting guns, although I do prefer Hopes no. 9. It never crossed my mind to use ballistol on a pipe, although it does say on the canister that it is recommended for wood, not to mention that I sometimes used it with great results on wooden parts of shotguns.

It’s a great product. I put it on all my guns which are largely sxs’s. Just make sure your gun is completely dry. It will trap moisture. It’s great stuff. It took the tar right off the wood.
