I was looking for a good trail and general wandering around pipe with a wind cap when this BBK popped up. It looked like it just needed a little TLC so I grabbed it to see what I could do. The fact that it had a smooth finish and none of the extra decorations nailed into the briar sold me on giving it a chance. So, here it is with before and after photos. I've just finished working on it so it's not been lit up yet but so far I'm not regretting the purchase. Does anyone have experience with these pipes?

What a lovely pipe! Congratulations on its return to service.

According to Wilczak & Colwell's Who Made That Pipe?, BBK was a Swiss pipe made by Ski-Heil. According to Jose Manuel Lopes' Pipes - Artisans and Trade Marks, BBK was a, "Swiss brand from the Bru-Bu factory. Stamp: 'Bru-Bu / Made in Switzerland'. Symbol: 'BBK' in a circle."

Do let us know how it smokes.

Thanks for the information, the history is always fascinating when bringing a pipe back to life! This is my first BBK pipe so I wasn't sure what to expect but it is solid and a great size for my tastes. Filling it now with Peterson's Standard Mixture for a test smoke.

Here's my verdict after a bowl of Peterson's Standard Mixture on a breezy evening. This is a solid, good smoking pipe! It has turned out to be a pleasant surprise and perfect for my outdoor wanderings. Even with the lid snapped down, there is still good airflow and the smoke rolled on. The only thing I need now is the trail under my feet and miles rolling by.
