Who here can remember pipe and cigar smoke out in the bleachers? I have a strong memory of someone several rows in front puffing away on a pipe. I was just a kid sitting there with my team’s hat on and a ball glove ready to catch a foul bowl and the aroma, probably Cherry Middleton, was intoxicating.

Standings wise, at least my Cubs aren’t the Rockies right now.

Funny to see this thread. I took a day off last week and went to see the Pirates with the Mrs. ...I definitely thought about how nice it must've been to be able to enjoy a pipe in the stands.

There used to be men standing around the locker room before the Friday night game. I suspect they were smoking hav-a-tampa or swisher sweets, but they smelled so good.

I like the Angels since I grew up with them being my local team being from Huntington Beach but I don’t have cable and I refuse to shell out the money for xm or a mlb baseball streaming sub. Fortunately they do spring training in Phoenix.

As a kid growing up in the San Fernando Valley, the only thing worse than the heat was the Dodgers (I was too young to remember the heroic run in '88). Now they're going to be like the Yankees were in the late 90s, but even more annoying. Wonderful.

Looks like they hung on for a 1-0 nailbiter against the Mariners today. Speaking of the AL, @username I'm still grateful to your Angels for dashing the Giants' hopes back in '02. It staved off the tainting of the championship trophy by that team...well, for eight beautiful years, anyway... :(

When I was growing up without cable, we could get WGN9 and they played the Cubs games and I would watch Harry Caray in his box. Cable came and I had choices, man! As I like the pitching game, I fell in love with Atlanta, with manager Bobby Cox and the Holy Trinity; Glavine, Smoltz, and Maddux. Smoltz was and is still my favorite pitcher. The years have flown by and while I have a soft spot for several teams, I’ve apparently come full circle with the Cubs again.

I love The Game.

Rockies 6, Astros 2. Hope springs eternal!

You need to step in for Acuna. Atlanta’s got too many injured. Gawd, I surely do hate the Yankees. Hopefully Acuna will be ready tomorrow.
My favorite American League team is whoever beats the Yankees.

Smoltz does great work as a baseball analyst. A fun guy to be around from all that I hear. Loved watching him pitch.
