I've seen a few of these. They were sold at a tobacconist based in Bermuda. This does look like an early '40's Barling's Make logo stamp, and the four digit model number is consistent with a pipe intended to sale in the British market, which would have included Bermuda at that time. Did you look on the underside of the stem for a reg''d number?

Thanks for the comeback the underside of the stem does not show any sign of a reg number. You solved the mystery of the Bermuda Triangle!! once again thanks now I know.

Just remembered, besides the tobacconist, I'd also been told by another Barling exper that these we sold at the Duty Free shop. Anyay, that's all I know, besides what the stamping tell me. Very possibly WW2 or soon after, production, since the started using the "Fossil" stamp around 1947.

Thanks for the additional info based on the feel and look I knew it was a vintage barling pipe. I smoked it today and it is now a part of my rotation.

Vegas Baby!!!
From an unrelated pipe brand of BBB there was a very lucrative ocean liner cruise ship tourist line that ran from the UK to Bermuda.

It was probably from a gift shop just like the BBB.
