I don't know how many of you travel on Nova Scotia's roads, but they are simply horrible. It is a constant swerving, smashing, braking, accelerating to manouver over and around cracks, holes, pavement heaves, grass growing in the cracks in the roads, and the list could go on. This month, June, the wife and I paid $85.00 each to renew our license, $42.00 to registar the Bike, and $132.00 each to registar the cars. A grand total of, $476.00! I do wonder where all this money goes, certainly not for road upkeep.

My daughter lives in New Orleans an those roads can still be a little rough in the neighborhood. We rode with her and she was just crashing through them. When her mom and I protested, she said there are too many and you have to go thru them fast. Yeah, that's the ticket (speaking of which, three speed camera tickets as well...) She had three flats last year, two alignments and replaced two tires before learning to slow down and manuever around them....

Here in North Carolina the roads are in pretty good shape. Our problem is that the population is growing so fast the roads can barely handle the increasing traffic.

Leave it to Hobie to request pothole pics

Texas roads in general are good. I've found that nobody is ever happy though. When they fix the roads, everyone complains about the construction, when they dont fix the roads everyone complains about potholes.

Some places in Louisiana have the worst highways... I call them "Rodeo Roads". You tie one hand to the steering wheel, hold the other in the air and see if you can stay in your seat for 8 seconds :D

I agree with you fisher! A couple miles up the road from my place the road blew up from the frost this spring. Looked like some one tossed a couple grenades then drove over it with a bulldozer. That was the end of march, they fixed it last week!

I also hate Louisiana roads. I was once caravaning from TX to FL and told the front car to take I20 through LA (the north skinny portion) Anyway, he started on I20 then half way thru the state turned south and then proceeded to finish the state through I-10. Effectively he tripled the time we were bouncing over their roads. This was way before cellphones, so I could not express myself until several hours after the decision was made.

It takes good compaction and material for the foundation . Hard to make a road in a mud hole . And even after all that the sections of concrete explode in the summer here in Houston . Yep I buy road hazard .

Living in Boston most of my life, we got used to horrible roads with pot holes so big they could swallow a Volkswagen Beetle. Now that I live in Florida, I am amazed at how pristine they keep the roads around here. It is a real pleasure.
