i remember some time ago they changed syrian latakia to cyprus latakia or something. older label says syrian, and new label says the other. does ones with syrian indicated really have syrian latakia?

Yes, but I've heard that they ran out of Syrian tobacco before they ran out of Syrian labels, & tins marked Syrian were getting Cyprian for a while. That probably would have been right around when everyone was really into hoarding it, unfortunately. So if you started buying Artisans Blend probably around the time when HHVS was running out & everyone started panicking over Syrian, you could have those tins. I never bothered with the blend, since I don't like perique. I don't like HHVS either, so personally I've found that the best thing to do, is to go with certain McClelland blends for my Syrian fix. =)

HHVS didn't, but the Artisans Blend does. (I didn't bother to go into why I didn't like HHVS, but mainly I couldn't taste Syrian in it. )

Somehow I don't want to sample Syrian or I'll want it. I believe I have only had Cyprian, and it fills the niche. It seems Syrian Latakia is a better condiment tobacco.

I really enjoy the Syrian. I stocked up a lot on the HHVS. I can get by with the Cyprian with some age on it as well.
