Do you mean they are missing from most or most of them were never made with one?

Im having trouble locating a picture of one on internet.

If I were to guess, the stem is a replacement scavenged from another pipe. What leads me to that conclusion is the fact that I haven't seen a lot of Arlington pipes with stem logos and none that have that shape. Of course I could be wrong as it is also the same shape as a stem logo from a Jobey and Arlington is said to have made Jobey pipes for a bit. Does that sufficiently muddy the waters?

captainsousie may be on the right track. Arlington Pipes Corporation was in Greenpoint, Brooklyn and did make pipes for Jobey as well as others. Based on the shape of the empty space on your pipe I'd guess that it once had a Jobey rondell.

Sure does make sense. I picked it out of a group of 10 from an antique mall and he had a bunch of tobacco stuff. Great help thanks ill dig into that
