More years ago than I like to think about, a favorite tobacco of mine was Sullivan's 0X. My memories of it are filtered through a haze of 30+ years, so I'm not sure that I'm remembering it accurately. Does anyone here remember smoking Sullivan's 0X-- and can you come up with a currently available tobacco that you feel is similar to it?

Thanks for the suggestions! My original intent was just to test my memory, to see if I'm remembering 0X with any accuracy-- but I'd very much like to smoke something that's a close match for one of my old favorites that's no longer available.

I'll definitely look into that-- but, since I've exhausted my tobacco budget for this month, it will have to wait a bit. It will be interesting to learn if the recreated 0X stands up to my memories of the original-- but I expect it will be a good smoke anyway.

According to this old brochure, No. OX was a richer version of No. OO,

and was made up of Latakia, mild Macedonia & mature Virginia.
I'm sure there's something along those lines available now, but that old stuff was made by The House of Sobranie, there can be no recreation to that magic!
Sobranie had a special secret technique to render their Virginias into otherworldly goodness.

I do remember that blend and still have 2 unopened tins in my stash but know that when they are gone they are gone forever. So I guess I'll either open them for a special occasion or sell them for a tidy sum one day. I'm sure like roth says, that Peretti can mix up something very similar that you'll surely enjoy. That would be my choice.
