Would love to watch it Chris, but since the BBC gave up coverage to ITV I have lost interest. I hate adverts with a passion and of course anything worth watching is riddled with the damned things.

As for who wins, my money would be on Hamilton but I wouldn't be disappointed if Verstappen took the crown this time around.

"Will the tire difference (HAM med VER soft) at race start be a factor?"

Only if they went to bed on time and had a good night's kip ;) ....tire/tyre....geddit?

Regards,

Jay.

Yep, watching prerace now. Will the tire difference (HAM med VER soft) at race start be a factor?
I don't know about the start but Hamilton's tires will last longer which will be a factor. I just hope it's decided on the track and not by the stewards because they took each other out. Definitely don't want a reliability problem deciding the outcome, either.

That was incredible! With 10 laps to go I thought it was over. To settle the title on the final lap seems fitting for such a close season. Amazing!
Can't wait for next year.

I watched and loved every minute of it. Not only Max taking it all, but the whole difference of 1 lap for the whole season is so sensational and since following formula 1 has never ever happened. I'm still stunned, have a racing heartbeat (no pun intended) and my throat is still sore from yelling and cheering.

Mercedes and Hamilton got a taste of their own medicine. I think Hamilton is a brilliant guy in the car and a great champion, but the whole semantics around constantly complaining it's not going their way and the whole communication with the FIA is making me gag. For once to my opinion the FIA made the right decision to let Max take over the lapped cars while behind the safety car.

Modern F1 is a joke, find some pre-2000 races if you want to see a prime racing league.

LeMans will soon return to form as the worlds most prestigious racing event once Ferrari announces their hypercar program.
LeMans doesn't need heaps of artificial rules (DRS, mandatory tire changes) to make races competitive.

I do think the V10 era of formula 1 was exciting, but I think in general most motorsports are less about skill or being bat crazy anymore. Even Le Man's with hybrid technologies in the top class, MOTOGP with electronics like launchcontroll and even wings on the fairings... The only true motorsports I think isnt tainted by technology is MotoMX and in a certain way WRC or RallyX.

It is good most driver scare about living which is a good thing. But it does lead to a lot of dull racing as the drivers covers the course to show the ads their sponsor have on their cars.

That was a farce. I don't like Verstappen or Christian Horner much, although the actual racing was pretty clean today. There is a lot of objectivity in interpretation of some of the F1 sporting regulations, such as "gaining an unfair advantage" however Michael Masi totally disregarded hard and fast elements of the regulations today for the sake of a spectacle.
Its like a football team winning the World Cup Final 2-0 in the last minute and the referee deciding the next goal wins.
Both Mercedes and Redbull have whinged to race control this season, but Mercedes, Wolf and Lewis Hamilton are far more gracious than those in the opposite garage. I kind of hope Mercedes choose not to appeal to the Court of Sporting Arbitration and obliterate Red Bull on track next season.
It was also heart warming to see Anthony Hamilton congratulate both Max and Jos, and speaks volumes for the difference in character of the two fathers.

I agree with everything you've said! And, I think Max has been overly aggressive all season long. He'll get his comeuppance next year when his team is left looking for a power unit anything like the Mercedes or the Honda that they're loosing. I'm heartbroken that Max won. Bad start to the day.

I've been watching Formula 1 since the early 1980's. This year, the level of competition was improved. In the past few years, I really only watched qualifying and the opening 10 laps of a race. Don't forget, we've had multiple seasons where the championship was decided by one point or less, with lots of controversy (2008 and 1984 were pretty memorable). Max is not very likeable, but many F1 champions were in that group. Schumacher took both him and Hill out in the 90's to retain the championship lead at the last race. Remember the team orders farce of the mid 2000's?

Everytime I see the Verstappen name, I think of Max' father, Jos. 17 seasons and no wins...

Post 2014 Formula 1 has been nothing but a joke, even the cars in 2014 looked like clowns.

Mercedes has been the worst team in F1 history in terms of stifling competition.
We've had close championships at least once every five years for the last 40 years, until Mercedes showed up.
Even Ferrari in 2003 only won by two points over Raikkonen and McLaren, contrast that with Mercedes going seven full years and zero competitors.
Whatever Ferrari did to secure five consecutive titles, Mercedes must have paid at least twice as much because they only had to try half as hard and got an extra two years.

Finally this year the embarrassing charade of Mercedes has been put to an end.

You missed out the Isle Of Man TT races. Watch that from the kerbside and tell me that isn't raw racing just as it should be.

I actually forgot about Road Racing in general, good call! Allthough those guys are almost racing on as advanced bikes as the SBK championships with electronics, they show that motorsports take at least two balls.

The rules say that lapped cars can overtake the pacecar in case the race directors say so. In my opinion all cars should have done this according to the rules, but we never got to analyse if every car even could in a safe way. It was clear the 5 cars between max and lewis could do that in a safe way. Besides that, if we look at it from a tactical perspective, Mercedes chose track position instead of giving up seconds to change tyres while Redbull both times changed tyres and got the advantage of that.

There where enough incidents where Mercedes and/or Hamilton have not been penalized enough (Silverstone / Hungaroring) and where Max has earned his fair share of penalties. I admit the crash at Imola (was it? Turn one Max flew over the curbs and landed on Lewis his car) was bonkers and was totally unnecessary. I also agree with you that Jos is bit of an dick next to not being a very good racedriver (he did more miles in the gravel than on the turf) but he's not liked overall in the Netherlands. If you think Jos or Max are not likeable, you can't say Toto is in my opinion.

Next season will be a tougher one for all teams, but I do agree Mercedes will draw the longer straw.
