I've got a couple estate pipes I own that have been handed down to me and don't have all the equipment to do my own restoration the way I'd like it to be done. Anyone on here moon-light restore for a fee?
@peterpiperuk Yes, I understand there are people who do this - no one in Austin area to my knowledge AND If there are any cottage shop type of guys or pros on these forums that do this, my patronage would be welcomed I'm sure. Hence why I asked here first before going out and finding a random person on google...
@Roth Thanks.
Here we go - first up for restoration a Knute Pipe that was my grandfathers. I don't know much about it aside from it being a Karl Erik. Has a bite mark that turned into a hole on the top of the stem, and some oxidation, briar appears to be in good shape.
I was just talking to another member how Karl Erik is always an overlooked great pipemaker. His briar handling was phenomenal. Champ of Denmark among other names he flew under but just never got huge. He is often quoted for not caring about where he got his briar. Felt no difference between the different kinds. But his grains are just fantastic in so many of his pipes. Proper pipe for the proper grain. Really do have a huge respect for his works as artist and craftsman.

I have a buddy in Louisiana that can take care of those for you. Think he charges around $15 a pipe plus shipping. great guy and good work. Both of my briars are in his hands as we speak.
