I’m crying, cause I just found out today, that after 22 years, EVGA is no longer making Nvidia video cards.

I’ve been buying EVGA video cards from EVGA for as long as they’ve been in business, and only from EVGA, they were the best.

I’m a PC Geek and an extreme gamer! LOL 😆

I just built this computer a few months ago with an EVGA 3080 FTW Ultra.

I still have a EVGA GTX 1060 6GB, running strong after 5 years, at 60 hours a week usage. LOL 😆

Such a sad day in the world of PC Gaming, even for those that used these cards in the multimedia world too! :(

Sorry about your loss, but I don't understand a thing you said. (NOT a computer guy!)................

Well, a loss really for the entire pc gaming and multimedia world.

EVGA, it’s my understanding was the biggest producer of Nvidia graphics cards in the world.

Click the link if interested.

Bottom line, this is a big blow for the computer world. :(

Can't you just buy a PS5 and have the same experience without the worry of upgrading cards?

I'm kidding!
I'm kidding!
I'm kidding!

Seriously though, does this mean there is going to be yet more inflation with a presumably now short supply with these guys out of the game?

Not a gamer, the last time I was looking at Nvidia graphics card I think they were yet to crack the 1GB mark.

My GPU history goes 4890, 560SLI, 980TI, Vega64, 3080.
For the last 10 years my Nvidia cards have been EVGA.
Looks like it's time for another Sapphire.

I have an ASUS 3070 at the moment and it smashes, big loss to the community though with EVGA leaving the GPU business.

Nice to see another PC gamer here.

Ok. Whoever did that article aggravatingly didn't dig enough for me. EVGA's revenue is 78% from GPU's.....and they don't plan on working with any other companies?? BUT, they still plan on keeping current employment contracts?

You don't just drop 80% of your business model. At that point I couldn't care less about it's relationship with NVIDIA. I would be more curious about what they plan on backfilling that loss with.

......oh and I wish I could feel your pain. I am forced to be a casual gamer as I am a truck driver and can only play when home. But my current PC is 11 years old and 3 years ago got upgraded to a Radeon RX570 . Needing to upgrade badly but can't wrap my head around the $1k+ price tags. Plus everything has power crept so much I have no clue where to start.

From what I understand, due to Nvidia’s business practices many of the GPU partners like EVGA were losing money on their cards. Even if it was a large percentage of their overall business it sounds like after the initial flood of purchases at MSRP they began to lose money on the cards.

The power creep is no joke! If you built something in the medium high to high range spectrum now you would be using a 1000+ watt power supply.

Couldn't you stretch to a cover for the case? ;)

Jay.

Oh a side cover for the case?

LOL, yes it has a glass side cover, but I take it off when running the pc, because the 3080 runs really warm, blows a lot of heat into the case.

So with these cards it’s better to keep the cover off. ;)

@Andriko just make a new post here in the General section, and I will reply to it, that way, for the benefit of others they can learn too. ;)

Yeah, it’s crazy what’s going on with EVGA, it will be interesting to see what happens next in the Nvidia world.

Yes, I’m an extreme gamer, since I bought my 3080, I have spent massive hours, for the past six months modding in Skyrim, at a little over 300 mods and counting. LOL 😆

I also have a few thousand hours in Apex Legends, been playing since Season 1, I play it every day, but cheating is so bad.

Fortnite Zero Build is an amazing Battle Royale, and most of the players aren’t good, so it’s a lot better for someone getting into shooters.

I’ve been PC gaming since 98,99, 2000...

We need a Nerd Alert heading.

I’m a PC Geek, not a Nerd. :)

While true, the lines can blur, this is a good analogy;
—————————

Nerd: “socially awkward” and “an intelligent but single-minded person obsessed with a nonsocial hobby or pursuit” Geek: “a digital-technology expert or enthusiast” and “a person who has excessive enthusiasm for and some expertise about a specialized subject or activity”

Wording in the article is all over the place but it would appear EVGA will continue to sell and support 3000 series Nvidia GPUs but moving forward will not be producing the next gen GPUs for Nvidia.

Either they're about to sandbag their employees with mass layoffs, or they have prospective deals lined up with Nvidia competitors. Or.. Just a great time to renegotiate your contract given the supply issues with Nvidia not being able to pump out enough graphics cards.
