Will heading out to Bremerton, WA in the beginning of 2014. Any members in here that can give me some insight on the tobacco/pipe scene there. I am sure there are some good shops in Seattle.

I'm not in Bremerton, but I do live in the Seattle area. Sorry to dash your hopes, but the B&M tobacconist scene in Seattle is pretty dismal. Other than the Kirsten store in Seattle (web site http://www.kirstenpipe.com/page_retailstores.shtml) and a Tinder Box in the Tacoma area (web site http://www.tinderboxwa.com/, it's mostly cigars and hookahs.
Plus, tobacco in Washington state is taxed at 90%.
Nevertheless, you're moving to a beautiful part of the country. Welcome, and I hope you enjoy your new home.

unfortunately 4dot is 100% right about the severe lack of good B&Ms. Kristen store is so-so but tinder box is outstanding. Stay clear of The Tobacco Patch.

Hey I am about 60 miles north of Bremerton. There is a great B & M up in Bellingham Washington called Fairhaven Smoke Shop. They are probably the best in Western Washington north of the Tinderbox. In my town they are opening up a new B&M and I am just hoping they are decent with pipe tobacco's but I am thinking they may go the glass pipe route.

90% ahhhh! I should have looked that up before I took orders to WA state. Everyone I have talked to who has lived in the area said it was incredible and they did not want to leave. Looking forward to some new scenery, Norfolk, VA is the pits.

When in business travel for my health research agency to Seattle, I would always take the ferry to Bremerton

and tour the waterfront. One time they had the U.S.S. Missouri open for tours, on its way to Honolulu, with

its commemorative plate where the World War II surrender was signed. Another time one of the ships,

a destroyer, involved in the Gulf of Tonkin incident that was used to justify the Vietnam War was there to

tour. I loved the boat ride and the waterfront there. I always worked hard on business travel, but also worked

hard at seeing some tourist destinations in off hours to make it less onerous. Better than sitting around some

dismal hotel bar, for sure.

Hello WAtonians! I am over in Poulsbo. We have a great B&M shop run by Doug who has been a smoker since way back. He even ran a Tinderbox in the 70s. Shops name is Cargo Hold in Poulsbo. He has 21 choices in bulk. All the tins from Dunhill, Peterson, lots of McCelland some H&H plus MacBaren. Lots of quality pipes also Savs, Petersons. Lots of cigars to. It is 20 mins from Bremerton and 15 mins from the Winslow ferry if you drive on the ferry from Seattle pier. I am at Cargo Hold about once a week just to talk fishing and BS with Doug.
Also I did not see any mention of the tobacconist in pikes place market area. I was there 6 months ago and was blown away at his selection of tins, bulk, and pipes. Would love to check that place out again. Anyone wanna meet up at the market one day and check this place out, lemme know.

Enumclaw plateau here. Welcome to one of the most over taxed tobacco states in the country.
Here are the rules: Go ahead and smoke pot in public parks, etc. DO NOT smoke tobacco, that is evil and not allowed within 25 feet of any public doorway. Do not drive and talk on your cell phone - $124 with no warning. As you can tell from the previous posts, B&Ms are few and far between. The few that are truly tobacco shops are nice and usually ran professionally. The majority of "smoke" shops are hooka palaces with energy drinks and condoms.
On the other hand, we have some of the most beautiful scenery in the country. Mountains, deserts, rain forests, and the ocean are all about 2-3 hours away. Our roads are decent, if crowded. There are great antique shops, museums, bars, and restaurants. You will never lack anything to do, you'll just have to do it in the rain during the winter and spring.
Washington is a mass of contradictions, have fun learning the rules (they'll change as soon as you learn them)!

Grew up in Lynnwood, went to college in Bellingham - but moved away in 1991, and have lived in exile ever since. :D
Have to admit - I stopped by the Pike Place Market last time we were back there, and the only place that I found selling tobacco and pipes looked more like a head shop. If it's really that much better than it looks, I'll check it out next time I'm in town.

Fairhaven Smoke Shop has been on my list to check out and now I'll add Doug's Cargo Hold in Poulsbo. I believe there must be another pipe smoker or two within 50 miles of Sequim, but I haven't found them yet.

The tobacco shop at the Pike Place Market is really tucked away and nestled with the import shops. Its not the same as the head shop.
Latakian: The only place I know of is Port Townsend near the QFC market. Very small pipe display (Savinelli) and a handful of tins last I checked. He is a smokeshop that sells more cigarettes.

Its called the Tobacco Patch. Not a fan as they are not knowledgeable. Their selection is better then the one in Kirkland and Bellevue but I wont buy from them unless I am desperate. They don't discount if you buy an ounce or a pound. Same price - $5.99 per oz.

I'm in the Bremerton area. I keep my boat at the Port of Brownsville marina, just about four or five miles north of downtown Bremerton.
The Tobacco Patch in Seattle is a very small store. They have quite a few tins so it's good if you are just looking for something new to try.

Jeff, at the Tinder Box in Tacoma will order anything for you if he doesn't have it.
But, be warned. At 95% sales tax, all tobacco is expensive in this state. Here's a thread zonomo started a few months ago:

Best Pipe Store in Seattle.
Also, be sure to visit us at the Seattle Pipe Club. If you would like to sit inside and smoke and chat with other pipe smokers, it is well worth the drive.
This place may not be tobacco friendly, but it is a good Navy Town. I hope to meet you when you get here.

I've heard really good things about the Cargo Hold, and the shop owner is very friendly.

Go onto YouTube and look up NWPipeSmoker, the guys name is Tom and he did a few videos of the Cargo Hold, and he has some good insight on other shops around that area.
By the way, I'm way down south in Clark County WA which is about 4 hours away from Bremerton. So how long you going to be stationed in Bremerton and what ship are you going to be on?
