This fall my sister brought back a birthday pipe from The Netherlands that I believe is

an Italian pipe, a Gianni, but it only has that name, no Italy stamp or any other clue.

Of course I've cast around online, but don't see exactly who made this pipe. I feel it

is not a Savenelli sub-brand because the shape and very high gloss finish isn't Sav-like.

It doesn't call to mind any other Italian brand to me. Despite the finish, it is a smooth,

cool smoker, nice and light weight, nicely drilled, compact but holds a lot of tobacco,

probably a mid- to larger Group 4, bent billiard, smooth finish, dark reddish brown.

Anyone recognize the Gianni name and know anything about the pipes? This one was

purchased in Rotterdam with assistance of a friend who is a pipe smoker.

All I got is what is on pipedia and pipephil. Pipedia says Gianni could be a private label pipe made by Ascorti-Radice for Gianni Davoli info here.
Pipephil says it might be made for the Swiss shop "Lugano" info here.
Of course these are just guesses.
