The nice thing about that revolver pipe is that you can load up 6 different kinds of tobacco...

lol!
I think these novelty pipes were popular in the 40s and 50s - maybe because pipe smoking was fairly common. So if you make pipes and want to stand out from the crowd, make a very unique pipe.
Plus I'll bet some of them were made for a specific event (like a gun show or wild west show souvenir).

Hmmm. The revolver pipe is obviously intended for someone who smokes with/for an audience. I sure

wouldn't relax with a book or at my PC with this baby in my mouth. The show-off component of smoking

pipes is pretty well gone. To have a good bowl is mostly to go unobserved. When I occasionally smoke

at an outdoor smoking station, people react as they would at a historical re-enactment, sort of bemused

and disbelieving. A corncob, rather than seeming cheesy-cheapie, seems to be a time machine, an

absolute nostalgia trip. I'm thinking of a break during a long day at rehab with my wife after her hip

surgery revision. She's good now, up and around and all over town. The revolver pipe is a collector's

item not a pipe smokers item, at least visually.
