Another old friend approaching 7 years of age is this MM with a loosey goosey stem which does tighten as it smokes but have not had any luck finding a replacement they are either too tight or too loose. Keeping it smokey with Orlik Golden Sliced.

Banjo, my legend stems were all too loose, after years of smoking, until I got my acrylic stem from Vermont freehand. They don't turn them down to fit, because they sell the special tools to do it. But the unturned stem fit perfectly in my pipe, like a military style stem. Food for thought

Lightly heat the tenon by dipping it in boiling water. Insert a sharpened pencil gently into the airway, and test the fit. Very little pressure from the pencil is necessary to adjust the size of the tenon. For vulcanite stems, heat the tenon with a flame or heat gun then dip it in cold water. The heat will make the vulcanite swell without and tools for reshaping.

Heres one example. As I was lighting it just now, a bee landed on my bowl, right in the flame. STRANGE :)
