A few huh? So you have succumbed to the madness as well! I have my eye on another Viking, a straight billiard. I have to let the dust settle a bit. I just bought a Savinelli and a Peterson and have one of each on the way…where does it end? LolYes. I have a few Vikings. Good pipes. Congrats
Oh I see pipes that I want every week. What’s slowed down is my desire to pay for all of them !Sooner or later, you'll stop seeing pipes you want. i slowed down after 30. Some are keep going after over few hundred.
Seconds, we tend to think of as the reject pipes. This is more his line of factory mades. He designs them, and someone else does them... however, he could be involved in the process himself as well. But, to what extent, may vary.A Bjarne line ?seconds
I’m not familiar with Castellos.MSO, you would rather have 10 Vikings in stead of a few Castello's?
Those are Savinelli seconds... I'm kiddin'I’m not familiar with Castellos.
Stay that way if you want to save yourself a lot of moneyI’m not familiar with Castellos.
Castello's are one of the most popular Italian makers and have been doing it for decades. They smoke great and you can get decent deals on them from ebay if you do your homework. You can also buy them from Briae Blues, Smokingpipes.com, MKE-LAW, Pulvers Briars to name a few. If I could deal with acrylic stems I would own a lot of them. Just ask around what people think of them.I’m not familiar with Castellos.
I’m familiar now. Geez they’re expensive! I can get 10 Vikings for 1 of those! I’ve graduated to pipes in the $100+ range, Peterson, Savinelli, etc. but I’m still enjoying my $40 $50 $60 $70 pipes too.Stay that way if you want to save yourself a lot of money
Sage advice my friend…There are many levels of pipes, as with all things. You've dabbled with the cheaper estates, and now middle market factory pipes. But they go from here to luxury factories, and artisan-mades.
You can obviously enjoy smoking at any level. And, if you aren't willing to start investing in more luxury pipes, then just stay where you are. Especially if you are enjoying yourself. You're not going to jump into nirvana by laying out more cash, but if you enjoy the artistry and history of these more high end pipes, then it might be worth it to you. If not, don't worry about it.
