I already had a GBD 9438 in New Standard finish, but couldn't resist adding another when this one popped up as a BIN on Ebay. It looked in great shape and the briar was nicer than my other 9438 New Standard. After the purchase, I found out it was being sold for a member I know from another forum.
The pipe arrived today (via South Africa!)and it was a nice, perhaps even nicer than the Ebay pictures. It has a darker, contrasting stain finish while my other has a more reddish finish. The two stems are also different. This one has my preferred no taper to the bit stem. I find it interesting that of the six 9438's that I own, each one is built slightly different.
We're heading to New Orleans tomorrow, so I'll break it in somewhere in the French Quarter.

Al, as soon as I saw the title to this thread, I knew it had to be yours. Congrats on your latest addition, great looking pipe. Do me a favor and grab me a shrimp po boy at Mothers. If you have never been, the Jazz Brunch at the Court of Two Sisters is a great time.

Love them bulldogs. First I thought they were Rhodeys, because there is a little glare on the stems,

but now I think I see they're 'dogs. Anyway, great capacity bowls and traditional lines. I like the

trout almondine at Gallatoires were the saying is, "You wait in line whoever you are." This is a retort

to some of the other dining venues where big shots are routinely ushered past the waiting customers.

Thanks, my daughter who lives here, has all of our dinners planned out. She lives frugally, so when we are in time, she picks the best places. Our favorite is "Jacamo's" on Oak Street. Today is my wife's and daughters boyfriends birthday, so no expense will be spared. Last year at Jacomo's, our bill topped $1k for seven people......wish me luck.

I got off lucky last night, just dinner for five at Copelands (eh...). We're going the Old College Inn this evening and the entourge grows from five to seven....thanks Dad. We did get to go to my daughters school yesterday and meet her class. It was my wife's birthday (and daughters fiance as well). The kids all made cards for her, so that was fun to hang out with 30 kindergardners.

The boy is a salesman at a Chevy dealership ran by the guy who owns the Saints. I snapped this in front of the Saints logo with my Ravens Superbowl shirt. They wouldn't get us a ZL-1 loaner....

I had to enjoy a lunch before dinner of course (love that draft Abita Amber!)

Al, looks like a great time. Back in the day I used to run large car dealerships and trained many salesman over the years. Tell the kid to always keep this phrase in mind. " If I could would you". For example if I could get you ten grand for your trade, would you buy today, if I could get your payment to 300.00 a month would you buy today, always be asking for the sale. Also tell him if he wants to hold gross( as much profit as he can), he needs to paint a picture of ownership and get them hot for the car, as we used to say put the customer under the ether. He must make everyone drive the car and not just work off price. Make them smell it, feel it, fall in love with it. Tell him if he is not selling 20 cars a month, he is weak, he will know what that means. lol Copy this post for him and if he ever needs help, just email me. Hopefully he will become a top seller and then move into management where the real big money is. A general manager at a good sized dealer( 200-300 cars a month) make around 175-250k a year.
