I’m a long time lurker, short time member here. I imagine there are plenty of threads dealing with Falcons, but I thought I would start another. I just want to get peoples opinions on a couple of matters as I in two minds over these things.
Affordability

Im amazed about the price variations of these things. My local tobacconist (Greens of Leeds – UK) sells them starting at £20, an absolute bargain, I’ve seen them elsewhere at £50+. Regardless of this gap I still feel this is a respectably low costing quality pipe, but I haven’t read anyone suggesting them as a starter pipe. Any reason?
The actual smoke.

I have two at the moment, both with full dental grip, one straight, one fully bent, and 3 interchangeable bowls. When the pipe is clean I have never had a bad smoke from either of these, and since I smoke on the go a lot (walking out and about) and find the aluminium stem and thick bowls really allow for a long cool smoke…HOWEVER, it’s the regular cleaning that is a pain, if I go camping I don’t like having to clean the stem all the time, and I find the condensation has a habit of leaving the little dome under the bowl and befouling the stem, never nice to hold in your mouth after. Secondly the draw hole being at the direct bottom of the bowl, unless you pack it particularly tight at the bottom of the bowl, I can stop mine from clogging up!
The look

I think they look pretty damn smart! Unfortunately my friend keeps pestering me to let him borrow it for his steam punk type things he does.

Take a pipe cleaner, regular one coil it around your finger, cut with wire snipes and put at btm of bowl, does 2 things, absorbs moisture and keeps tobbaco away from draw hole, works for me. The old cajun

I don't much like how the dry-rings (or cajun's method) effects the draw. Instead, I just take the bowl off and give the stem a flick of the wrist if the humifdome starts getting a bit wet...

What old cajun said but put the ring in the dome under the bowl. That should keep the moisture from running back to the stem. After smoking change the ring or wipe out the dome , run a cleaner through the stem, clean the bowl and It is ready for another smoke. They are good knock around pipes.

Sorry as Justin Wilson would say I didn"t splain myself, unscrew the bowl , put pipe cleaner filter in rotating so cut ring is opposite draw hole , a little channel is formed by 2 open ends of filter making draw good. WHEW, That was hard yah. The old cajun :puffy:
