Looking at a pipe bought by another forum member led me to a seller who had this Fairfax 6-pipe rack as a BIN, $16 shipped BIN. I have the identical rack and after cutting out the the hole slots into u-shapes, it holds even my largest James Upshalls, etc. It will be a nice mirror image to my existing rack. I find the six and seven pipe racks (single sided) fit places I have available for a rack. I have a large, straight, 12 pipe rack, but it takes up a lot of real estate.

You've inspired me to modify one of my pipe racks. I have several, but they all hole slots as you mention. As you stated those make it difficult to put larger pipes in. Nice work!

Like the rack. I have a round one, and it's ok, but I'm thinking that this might be the way to go, especially by making the hole slots into U's.

I cut all of mine, those holes really only fit small straight billiards (of which I own none). I have a small coping saw that works great. I used a jigsaw at first, but it's easier to hand and almost as quick. Just wipe a little Old English (or stain of your choice) into the raw wood left by the cut.
