Hurrah! The first meeting of the nascent Ann Arbor group will be at Tobacco Rose Smoke Shop October 27 at 3 pm.
"This meeting will be mainly about getting to know one another and talking about what a pipe club can be. The club is of course open to anyone over the age of 18. You may be a new pipe smoker or an old pipe smoker but you are all welcome to attend.

Just for grins, I am asking you all to bring one of your pipes, your favorite tobacco and a story about pipe smoking you can share with the group. It could be about someone you know, about yourself, or the pipe you brought along."

You wouldn't happen to know of any pipe clubs around Battle Creek would you? I'm looking to join one but it seems 1) that they're arent very many in Michigan and 2) that they're all far away.

How far away is Ann Arbor from Battle Creek?

Hey Shayde, Ann Arbor is about an hour, due East of Battle Creek on I94.
Sounds like you've got yourself a "local" pipe club!

Not a bad turn out for the first meeting. Thanks to Chris and Cory for hosting at Tobacco Rose. Eight or nine people were there. It was a good group of folks, very gregarious and friendly. We came up with a name, Ann Arbor Area Pipe Society (A3PS). We settled on the last Sunday of the month at 3pm for a meeting day and time. There were people from Ann Arbor, Pinckney, New Baltimore, and other cities. The next meeting will be November 24th. Ed will be giving a short talk about Missouri Meerschaum pipes.

Wonder if anybody remembers A-Square Tobacconist on South U back in the 70s. Run by a really nice chap named Buzz Winston. At one time he was partners with Jimmy Edwards of Maison Edwards in Nickels Arcade but then they split.
