So I took a buddy of mine, who’s just getting into pipes, to my local B&M today. He wanted to meet Melvin, the owner, and look for an ash tray and to browse around. I’ve not been in there in a few years, so I was very surprised when I saw the amount of tinned tobacco he had on hand. When I first started smoking, Melvin mostly sold bulk pipe tobacco and rarely had any tinned tobacco. I eventually talked him into carrying tins on a regular basis. Even then, he never had more than 8 or 10 tins at a time. Today he had well over 100 tins! I couldn’t believe it.
And low and behold, what did I spy on the bottom shelf..... a few tins of Rattray’s. So I picked a couple up. Then while perusing the pipes, I spied this Nording, that I know for a fact has been there at least 8 years. Well, ole Melvin cut me a deal, so I couldn’t pass it up. I had only intended to buy a couple pipe tools, but I did this....45ED46C0-5BD0-44C8-BF85-CC7FE7CDF2F2.jpeg6CAE40A4-36C6-435E-9458-648C4DD69BEB.jpegAB5BDFC2-A109-4F61-A7E9-A77C39816F21.jpeg

Whenever my wife discovers I've come home with a new pipe and gives me the stink-eye, I just remind her of her shoe cellar. ;)
She's been aging most of her collection longer than I have.
My wife's cellar is growing and I think I've finally gotten her to quit buying me pipes and tobacco.

We never cross our streams, fearing protonic reversal.
So we just eye each other's collections with a simultaneous sense of disdain and admiration.
Much of my wife's collection are Burley blends and mine are mostly Virginias, but I did have to buy her a pound of Rouxgaroux to keep her out of mine.

Oh! You each have your own actual tobacco cellars!
I was attempting to make a joke, equating my tobacco cellar with her shoe collection.:LOL:
We promised each other never to buy each other either. ha!

Looks like that shop knows how to display pipes. Many shops I've been in with pipes that old have oxidized stems. A Nording won't let you down.?

I just popped a fresh tin of Black Mallory and I have only had 1 bowl, but found it to be tasty.
Tin note screamed campfire, in the best way!
Not harsh, but in my eagerness, I pushed it a bit and got the good old creosote bite, so I had to come at it differently to get the taste I knew was in there.

My wife and I have an agreement that we can each spend the rewards points on our credit cards however we want. Eventually, she caught on that I was putting most of the large purchases on my card. Most of my points transform to pipes and tobacco.

He keeps the pipes in the back end of the store. It’s well away from sunlight, and dimly lit. Even still, It did have a tiny bit on it. I did a quick polishing on it when I got it home. Five minutes and it was good as when it left the factory.
I have several Nordings, so I didn’t hesitate when offered this one.
