I'm in the traditionalist (rather boring) camp here.
I prefer my saddle-stemmed straight billiards to be 100% straight.
Taper-stemmed straight billiards can look rakish with a slight (barely perceptible) bend. ?

Just my humble opinion.
YMMV puffy

Finding a random stem that fits the shank to a "t" is like winning the lotto. The right diameter, the right shape ... what are the chances?

About the same as being kicked out of Hell. But I've had it happen. Cheating a professional out of a fee always seems to create an inner glow to one's being, in my experience.
