As the title says.

Throught a feat of connections, i have access to the entire catalogue of smokingpipes. What tobaccos do you think I NEED to get.

To illustrate my flavour profile:

I am VERY fond of straight Virginias such as: FVF,haymaker, sir johns

Vapers such as:
chacom 4, aus dem krater plug, janneman flake, highgate/medaillon flakes, cabbies mix.

English blends such as:
Squadron leader
Fayyum kake (latakia with Kentucky)

Burleys such as:
ABF
dockworker (kind of like this one)

This is the list of the things ill get so far.

Opinions and additions are very encouraged.

Thanks in advance!

Merde de Cheval is a good light English with burley. It smells like horseshit, but it’s actually quite good. I’ve been hooked on it lately. It’s likely to be discontinued soon. Gl Pease Quiet Nights is wonderful as well. Horizons is on up there with Quiet Nights. I’m also fond of Charing Cross.

Probably my two favorite Cornell&Diehl blends are Gentleman Caller (VA/Per/Bur that'll ghost your pipe with deer tongue grass) and Dreams Of Kadath (VA/Per/Bur/KY with some Oriental and a light topping of some sorta wine or brandy).

Those might be up your alley too, maybe.

I'll also declare an endorsement of Five Brothers, if that's unavailable in The Old World - no-nonsense Burley shag.

If you like straight VA, then D&R Three Sails is an inexpensive and all-around sterling tobacco.

If you try Gentleman Caller and like it, @gcm, you may want to travel down the deer tongue path and try Crooner.

I see Coniston Cut Plug on your list. I would recommend Cannon Plug as another Gawith offering for your cart.

The thing is, this is most likely a once in a lifetime thing. Thats why i dont just order once and order more of what i like. I have to take reaaally calculated gambles.

Never tried lakelands so i out that oz there just to see what the fuss is about 🤣

GL Pease: Cumberland & Fillmore (VaPers), Laurel Heights (touch of lat), Montgomery (VA/Ken) & Windjammer (if you like navy flake).
Cobblestone: Hiking and/or Burley Plug.

Also, if you're interested in orientals:
Missouri Meerschaum Luminaire
ES 4th Gen Twilight
C&D Miskatonic Mixture

Or yet more GL Pease Orientals:
Cairo
Geometrie
Embarcedero
Temple Bar

There's a few. ;)

How would you compare opening night to union square?
Opening Night was very floral to me.

I think just buying a blend or two from all of your favorite genres from the C&D and GLP lines would at least give you a current American tobacco experience. Like anything, some don't like it, some do. Most of what I buy/smoke the past years comes from the house of C&D.

I would have thrown D&R blends in the mix as well before the sale, but I tried a pound of Rowland Gold post sale and it made me sad. I don't know how anything else faired, but the changes to Rowland Gold post sale, before they stopped the blend entirely was just genuine disappointment.

Based on your profiles, I would try GLP Westminster, Gaslight, Bankside, Union Square. C&D Opening Night, Oak Alley is also a good VA/Burley blend with some condimental perique. Chenet’s Cake is recommended to age several years so I have not tried mine yet.

If you can try Ken Byron Van Gogh, it is a most excellent darker pure VA blend.

Some other unique options would be Low Country Atalaya and as others mentioned, Crooner just to give deer tongue a try. I also really think Triple Play is a unique one. I like it better than Jackknife.

+1 for G.l. Pease Union Square. It's an all around delightful blend. Grass and hay, from the yellow VA's, with earth and toast from the reds. It's phenomenal. If I only had union square to smoke I'd be happy. One of the best things I've ever smoked, hands down, is 10 year old union square. If you're able, buy two tins. One for now and one for 5-10 years from now.

I like GLP but I thought Triple Play tasted like burnt lumber...or something.
I tried different pipe, different packing, smoking slow...I got nothing from it.
It didnt taste bad. I just could find no reason to smoke it.

You can probably get your hands on UK tobacco easier in the US than you can in the EU so you might want to consider that.
