Does anyone have any experience in air cleaners such as the Lightning Air Plus or any other. I'm looking for something that will treat one room of my house. Thanks.

Get something citrus-scented (lots of "smoke away" kinds of products in this area -- any liquid citrus scent will do however). The scent, as well as its composition, will often bind with smoke well and remove some of the smell.
That said disinfectant sprays and such don't really do the trick, for pretty much the same reasons liquid spritzers do work.
Of course -nothing- completely removes the smell. Other than not smoking in the house. But who wants to do that? heh heh

Ozone generating machines are supposedly very effective. I think member Chuckw has one, so maybe he can post-up with some info. I have heard that over a long period of time they have a detrimental effect on things like drapery, rugs, oil paintings, book bindings, even wood products... but really, I dunno.

I have one (can't remember the brand off-hand) that cost me about $250and was supposed tobe good for a space of about 1,000 sq ft. Really didn't do the job very well. Also had one for the car which performed a little bit better. I wouldn't waste the money again.

Depending on how much you are looking to spend. I would suggest a refurbished Rainbow Vaccum they have a water filter system. We have an old one and it works great as an airfilter. Just have to remember to clean the water tank after use because the crap it grabs out of the air might get stinky if left to rot.

I was just thinking about this subject the other day... I plan on buying a box fan and attaching an air filter to the back of the fan. That way the air will have to pass through the filter before it goes through the fan... And I know that it will burn up the fan pretty quickly but I can order a Lasko box fan for about 6 bucks from my workplace!

I have a box fan with a furnace filter attached to the back that I have used in the shop for several years. Still going strong.

Hey Collin reading about the Lampe Berger. I would have to say it would work great. They use a similar system on Modern Submarines to Purify the air(still stinks but cleans the air). They are a larger scale but the same concept. Now I know where they got the idea for the burners on the Sub, always wondered about that.

Bubba, the fan works pretty well for shop dust. As I don't generate a lot of smoke there I don't know how it would work for that.

Well I live in an apartment that I am not supposed to be smoking in but I do anyway! :D So really I am not concerned with the smell because it already smells heavily like tobacco in my apartment (they know about my cellar) what I am concerned with is the smoke "particles" or whatever they are!

I built my man cave/office this summer with a seperate HVAC system. Seems to be working with no smoke getting to the upper floor. Momma hasn't complained yet.
