We just welcomed our newest addition to our family, a little girl. So, for the past months we have been playing the name game. I don't play that game well (kind of hate it in fact). But after much debate and back and forth we found a name we both liked, which I suggested, Piper. We named our little girl Piper.

It took a few days after we got home but eventually I was looking over my pipe collection and chuckled to myself, Piper. I honestly never made the connection until then.

The fact that we all have a huge mysterious landscape the of our own psyches is both the most inspiring and terrifying thing I can think of. Sometimes I have dreams that make me think where the heck does that come from. Good name by the way.

Why thank you, we think so too. Even if its origins are in question lol.

when she's older think about the subconscious effect of knowing she's named after something you love. Funny thing too it's a name that hits a really good mix of not too common but not weird or overly unique. Now you just need to change your families last name to burly. So on certain papers she shows up as Burly, Pipper.(just kidding don't do that.)

Maybe she'll take up playing one type or the other. Or, take after Piper Laurie. Worse role models than her, quite the actress . . . oops! Sorry, actor.

Certainly, congratulations are in order. So, congratulations! :)

As relates to a newborn infant daughter, the name Piper reminds me of a cherub play a panpipe. With a middle and last name, I think it will sound elegant for a school child through adulthood. At least right now, it's not overly common, although you could start something.

My wife named a cat Bella when it was a kitten, a novel name at the time, and now pets everywhere are named Bella, and of course, grade school classes illustrate that names go in waves.

Congratulations to you and your family, wonderful news! Piper is a fantastic name, for generations my family just recycled previously used names. Just not quite formally enough for anyone to become Reginald III but confusing to tell a story.
