Advise your Local Newspaper about IPSD!!

In no way am I trying to deviate people from this fabulous site, and I hope this is not frowned upon. Sorry if it is, my intent is genuine. I just wanted you all to know that I'm doing my best to bring awareness to the fabulous Pipe smoking world. I wrote in to 2 of my local newspapers to advise them of Feb 20th IPSD. One paper got back to me saying they will put the letter in for sure. I think the more awareness we have, the better people will understand the diffence between our passion for pipes and cigarettes, which is all that people think of when they hear smoking. It only takes a few minutes to write in. Here in Canada,(Ontario anyways) Feb 20th this year is also known as Family Day. I associated the two within my letters, stressing on family, old times, perhaps better simplier times with Grandpa and his Pipe or Dad and his Pipe, when family joined for fun. This is just a suggestion and I hope some of you partake in it. Take care.

Yes, this is a great idea! If you know of any retailers celebrating the event in-store, you should tell them to contact local media - newspaper and TV.

Hi MP31Guitar, here is the letter I submitted to my local newspapers..
February 20th is such an important and significant day. Two events are held that day, that go hand in hand. Family day and to many readers surprise, it's also International Pipe Smoking Day. This is celebrated around the Globe, where literally Thousands of People on Youtube and Facebook will unite to smoke a bowl. Info can be found here: www.ipsd.eu This is a non profit announcement. International Pipe smoking day is a day that was created to encourage relaxation, remembrance of days past and Family. Bonding with family or friends. Some say to remember better days that have past. A simplier time. I know I'll be calling my Father to join me for a pipe and I encourage readers to do the same. Corn cob Pipes can be purchased as low as $5.00-$7.00 dollars, and then better Briar Pipes can range from $20.00-$100.00. I am not encouraging smoking, however you do not inhale a pipe, it is to be enjoyed with small puffs to enjoy the peacefullness and aroma around you. If the Health risks are questioned, remember this. Many of us remember our Grandfathers smoking a pipe in his 70's, 80's, or 90's. They didn't start at that age, most started 40 or 50 years before. So if Pipe Smoking increases health issues in my 80's or 90's, than sign me up. Enjoy your Family this year with a pipe!

Their flyer on the ipsd website still says 2011... I can't even print out 3000 copies and throw them out of a really really tall building!
