Okay in the trivia and over-thinking department, I wondered today while smoking a once brim-full bowl of Mac B's Navy Flake if I could add the last little bit of rubbed out tobacco to this bowl so as not to waste it, since that was the last of my supply, and I didn't necessarily want to add it to some other flake I'd rub out, or some other mix I'd do in the ceramic drying bowl. So before doing a relight, I packed the last bit, maybe an eighth of a bowl, on top of the 2/3rds of a bowl I had left. It smothered things a little at first, but it did not require an additional relight, and it got going again. However, it seems that the top layer may not burn as evenly or completely as the rest of the pipe. I'd never thought of doing this before. I've thrown last tidbits out, or stirred it in with something else. Just thought I'd report on it. It works, but it's not a perfect burn, as you might guess. I was smoking a gift Nording freehand signature pipe, a nice rugged shaped commodious pipe.
