Back in the days when I first tried smoking a pipe, there were four of us good buddies who chipped in together to learn how to smoke a pipe. One friend said it wasnt for him, so he gave me his basket pipes as a result. Another moved far away and I have lost all contact with him. Recently, I started talking to the only remaining member of our pipe club, and told him that I had picked the hobby back up. He still had an old Yello-Bole pipe that he had acquired from a friend years ago, and I told him to bring it over so I could give it a thorough cleaning. After scrubbing his pipe, I handed him an unsmoked corn-cob and some good quality Virginia tobacco, and we sat in the front room and lit our pipes and shot the breeze for the next 45 minutes that our pipes lasted. Now, my girlfriend had the TV going and I absolutely hated the movie she was watching, but I didn't care. The front room was hot as hell and we were sweating bullets, but I didn't care. The beverage that I had taken from the fridge was luke warm due to the heat, but I didn't care. The new dog made a mess on the floor of the computer room, but I didn't care, and it was all because I had a nice, warm, solid smoking pipe in my hand, I had a great tasting tobacco drifting slowly out of my mouth, and I was enjoying the company of good people, and enjoying the pleasures of a great smoke. Gentleman, these are the moments I live for as a pipe smoker. I have never had a smoke like that in my entire life. Just wanted to share that. Cheers! :puffy:

That's what it's all about. Being stationed so far from home I don't get to sit down with my dad, who, as I've reached 30, is my best buddy, and enjoy a nice pipe. It's what I look forward to most when I get out, sitting at the edge of some pond, line in the water, pipe in hand and shooting the breeze with the old man. Thanks for the story, it reminds me how much I'll enjoy it when it happens.

A/C would have been nice to have though
I have a window unit in the next room, but in this horrendous heat, it failed to do much good in cooling us down, especially with three people and clouds of smoke in the room.

Those "perfect smokes" are what it's all about. I love when they happen.
