Over the weekend my wife and kids visited the Quechee Antique Mall and I took some pipe related pics. There was nothing really worth buying except for the Wilke NYC. He wanted $12 - not too bad a price - but it needed a lot of work and the stem was chewed beyond recognition!
Was a great day anyway. Also, I thought this was interesting - a "Drain-O" pipe! Never heard of it before.

Wow Six the antique mall in your area looks like it has an incredible selection. I am a dealer at an antique mall and keep an eye out for pipes. In the last several years there have been less pipes for sale here than you found in one day. One thing we do have here is a decent selection of antique tins, which I wish I knew more about. Thanks for posting the pics, might have inspired me to do the same. When I do find pipes here, 19 out of 20 are worn out junkers, but have found a few keepers.

Nice Wilke. All those pipes and just the one was a keeper. Too bad. Nice price for that one too. I have a shop in a nearby town that has about that many pipes for about a year now. He wants $35 for each pipe..even old cobs(rest are old drug store pipes).

I told the shop owners he'd never get me to buy one.

I went to my local antiques joint, found 2 beat up pipes in a pipe rack and that was it.

Thanks for the comments guys. Very interesting to note that other antique malls have so few pipes. There was another cabinet with pipes (a different dealer). He wanted $25 for each one - most were no name basket pipes filled with decades worth of carbon in each bowl.

What a fun way to spend an afternoon! Drain-O Be interesting to see if that was before the actual drain cleaner came out.
Very rarely you'll find something in antique stores in Washington. My wife did come home with a pipe rack once, and a Falcon that was in pretty good shape. She's thinking of garage sales, but the thought of baby clothes and toys puts her off.

Glad I wasn't there. I'd have gone for at least two of the briars, although it might have taken me all day,

or a second visit, to decide.

Yesterday was the monthly big sale at my local antique mall. Saw more pipes than usual for sale. Anything interesting was either overpriced, had a crack or hole.

Occasionally I find stuff in antique malls but its usually way over priced. I find Oi Vay dot com and Itchy to be pretty good and I have built up a rap-or with so many dealers that they show me stuff before it goes to either of the online auction sites. I also trade quite a lot with people as I have a core style of pipe I collect and smoke but I buy up so many pipes to get that 'one' I am after in job lot sales that I always have stuff to trade/donate, give to Andre!

@trailboss I am a dealer at this antique mall so not only do I get 10% off I can usually barter with the other dealers. I inspected each of these pipes and the old $35 Jobey was my favorite. It had a tooth hole in the underside of the bit but the rest of the pipe was easily restoreable. For $10 I would have snatched it up!

@Teddy Not sure where the mall Six shops at, I am assuming Vermont. The one I go to is in BURLeson, Texas.

I suspect the antique and flea market retailers are onto pipes as desirable items. One tip-off is that

you can see really scroungy pipes for $20 or more. The seller doesn't know the pipe, but has been told

that you can get more for them. The days of the $15 Dunhill may be (nearly) gone. You can always find

some garage sale person who just wants to turn unsorted household stuff into a few hundred dollars,

a dollar or two at a time.

I seen $8 for the Whitehall poker. I'd buy it. I have two Whitehall pipes. Both smoke well. Nice pics, thanks for sharing.

I got really lucky yesterday, my wife found a Peterson Killarney for 50 dollars knocked 5 bucks off it. Smelled like it had maybe been smoked once with something sweet. No nicks dents scratches even had a cheap case with some tinderbox pipe cleaners! Zero carbon inside the thing. Smokes like a dream. I don't expect to be finding anything like that again. The lady tried to get me to buy a kaywoodie that was so caked up you couldnt put tobacco in it and the stem was chewed to death.
