I had originally wanted a lapis lazuli tamper for my Bruce Weaver acorn to match its stonework mortise, but snaketampers posted this one today and it was really what I'd been looking for. He calls it Deep Blue Sea.

I think it's the maker's mark. They appear on all of his work.

Nice looking tamper, man. I didn't know you had a pipe with lapis on it. that is really cool. I brought back some Lapis from my year long vay cay in Afghanistan back in 2006, but I think my ex wife got it in the divorce because I couldn't find it when I was moving.

Anyway, I love that type of stone, and your new tamper is right in that genre.

It's one of my favorite semi-precious stones. That, and malachite.

Very nice! I have been having a hard time finding real lapis in larger chunks. We went through a lapis shortage during the most aggressive times of the war in Afghanistan. And, it has been slow getting supplies back up. But, I like that one. Is it acrylic?

Scott Tinker will make you a tamper in Lapis. Here's the one he made me. It's acrylic but I am pretty sure your mortise is too so it will be a perfect match.

I just love the vibrant colors and gold veins in Lapis.

Scott would charge an arm and a leg for a plastic one and lapis lazuli isn't terribly hard to work with. I turned this one out a few years ago from a $10 block from eBay but prefer wooden tampers.
