Picked up this little guy at the local B&M:
killarney1.jpg

Along with two 8 oz. bags of tobacco. (One of Stonehaven, and one of Penzance.)
I think that's worth being a little late to work...
The lady at the shoppe said that the red stain on the Killarneys tends to fade as the pipe is smoked. Anyone else corroborate on that?

Definitely is!

That's the quintessential pipe shape for me, really classy :D

My second pipe was a Chacom Seine 184 that has almost exactly that shape and colour of finish, only not the metal rings on the stem and a bit slimmer. :)

Thanks Maduro. It didn't seem likely, but there was a hint of plausibility in it.
And Nemrod; I agree. The first pipe I bought was a similar shape, albeit a Savinelli. I've since experimented with a few different ones, but I keep coming back to this general shape. Just looks and feels "right."

You just had to post up a Peterson, and then rub it in that you topped it off with Penzance and Stonehaven.
To Hell with work. 8O :D

The ONLY Petes that I have had loose its color are the racing greens! hope you dnt have the same experience. I've had a couple red Killarney's, not smoked very often, but the color maintained.

Mine are all almost entirely straight. I'm not a massive fan of bent pipes generally, but looking at that one makes me very tempted to try them more often.

Great new pipe. I'm smoking my Pete Kinsale XL20 P-lip. Somewhat larger I believe than your's but a great pipe. Let us know how you like it. If you have some difficulty with the P-lip at first, put a softy bit cushion on it and you'll find the comfort level improves significantly. Many guys shy away from the p-lip before trying a bit cushion.

Beautiful pipe! Keep it waxed. My limited understanding of red stain and paint is that it actually never really dries in the truest sense of the word and tends to sit on the surface more than other stains. Thats just the price you pay for that stunning color. Keep it well waxed and it will stay beautiful!

@mjtannen - Yeah, this one is just a 68. TBH, their selection was rather limited. The lady there actually commented on how few pipes they had; seems they're having problems getting orders in from Peterson.
@haunted - Good plan. I'll definitely get some wax on it; thanks.

and keep it out of bright sun unless you are smoking it. uv light will kill any pipes color after time...
