This past June my Central Cooling unit stopped working and I got it repaired. $3000 for parts and labor, paid cash, got a receipt, shook hands with the technician, and all was said and done. In my mail today I received a bill notifying me that I was past due on a payment of a balance of $6000 and that a collection agency would become involved if the debt wasn't settled. I immediately called the company, Comfort Heating and Air, and voiced my complaint. In less than five minutes, the receptionist answered the phone, contacted her regional supervisor, and cleared the issue when it turned out that the same service had been entered into their system twice. No hassle, no treating me like I was trying to evade payment, they took the side of at fault even before the discrepancy had been uncovered. I can't recommend them or their heating and cooling systems highly enough and enrolled in a bi-yearly service plan with them before ending the call just because I really felt like they value me as a customer.

Good customer service seems to be a thing of the past. I’m dealing with an insurance agency for some concert tickets, they were very expensive so i spent the $27 on the insurance,as it turns out i got COVID and couldn’t attend. Filled out the for,s with my doctors signed affidavit, it’s been 6 months including gettin emails twice saying i never sent in the docs paperwork …. Even though the form was attached to the email they replied too. Time to call them yet again on Monday and talk to another $13 an hour drone that really just doesn’t care.

File a complaint with your State Department of Insurance. Can probably do it online. Write concise summary with as much documentation as possible. Should get results.

I just had a similar good experience with my hvac contractor. My outdoor unit was sending up a prodigious buzz. The tech showed up on time, worked around a downpour to do the routine maintenance work and change the filter, then went outside and pinpointed the "contactor" unit that was making the noise, and determined that it was under warranty. All this came under the routine maintenance contract. When they sent me a feedback email, I give the guy an "A", citing the above points. It turned out the buzz was produced by ants chewing on the unit being replaced.
