I finally was able to get a tin a few days ago. I took a good portion, rubbed it out, and let it dry for about a day. It's pretty dry now, but it has an alien feeling to me - noteiceable from the beginning when wet, but now that it's dry it's pretty distinct. It feels a bit plastic, or maybe like wax paper. Like it's smoother than it's supposed to be.
Now the question: is this somehow related to propylene glycol? as far as i understand, its commonly used as an additive, but maybe is there more in 1792 than in other tobaccos? Or is there another reason for this?
By the way - great tobacco. A German review eloquently disdained it as "the frowst of the year 1792" - while probably accurate i really like that :P
