For anyone looking for one of those Devil Anse pipes but ain't got the funds, I came across this, so now you know that Chacom has made something pretty damn close & you can keep an eye out...

I had a Nording pocket pipe with a short stem, and I eventually found it a little too harsh a smoker.

I guess it depends on the tobacco and the smoking style, but even with a fairly moderate English,

I found it had too much bite for the blend for me. My other small pipes are fine, but with a short

stem you get into some hotter smoke. I notice the Dr. Grabow Royalton bulldog takes advantage of

a slightly longer stem than the average bulldog. One of the benefits of making the same pipe over

and over may be that small details like that can get perfected, if the manufacturer has that turn of

mind. Even watching the actor who portrayed Devil Anse in the TV series (which I thought was

exceptionally well done) made me wince. Wonder how much tobacco he actually smoked; not much,

I hope, with the "burn" so close to his jaw. Maybe with all the carnage, Anse didn't notice!

I just smoked some ODF out of a mini cob this morning and it was actually a nice smoke, very flavorful and even sweeter than in a briar but I'm attributing a little of that to the new cob breaking in.
