Three parts McC Perique, two parts C&D Izmir Turkish, one part C&D Cube-Cut Burley.
Pressed the tobacco by hand into the bottom of a small jar a few days back. It'll need more age, but I want to get an idea of what the blend is like and if I need to tweak it.
Dug out some of the loose cake and set it on my mat. Smells good!
During the char light I can taste plenty of the Izmir's pine and cedar flavor.
As I first get into the bowl it is easy to find contributions from each tobacco; here a hint of fruity chocolate from Perique, there a green nutty flavor offered by Burley, and of course, the aformention Izmir evergreen-esque taste. These tobaccos bounce off of each other for a bit, but start to harmonize once I get near the middle of the bowl.
The flavor of the smoke homogenizes, but still evolves. Having a hard time pinning down a description. It really seems to come alive in the last third. The Burley and Izmir come together and create a clean, woodsy flavor that is smoothed out and spiced up by the Perique.
The smoke is cool, no bite. From mid-bowl on, it has a refreshing sort of flavor but a very heavy spice in the snork.
Not going to change the mix at all, though it clearly needs time to coalesce. I'm excited to try it again in a month or so!
