What a lovely day.
Slept in til 8am this morning, and awoke to the aroma of coffee brewing and my hand being nudged softly by the soft muzzle of my retriever Maia. Lazed around in the morning and then went to my first yoga class with my wife. Came home, did some heavy lifting and carpet pulling prior to brdavidson's arrival.
We enjoyed a(nother) pot of coffee and friendly kitchen catch up with my wife, and then adjourned to the Pipe Cave. This was brdavidson's first visit, which lead to friendly banter about the different pipes, tobaccos, and some impromptu swapping of tobacco.
From the cave we adjourned to a nearby conservation area, armed with cobs (it was raining) and Maia, and we had a lovely hour long lunt in the damp. Maia somehow found herself off leash once we got a km down the trail, and all three of us enjoyed friendly conversation, comradeship and being out in the bush.
Brdavidson kindly loaded up a cob for me with Trout Stream. My first true aro in almost a year. I was pleased with what an easy and enjoyable smoke this was. I found the pouch note gentle and interesting, without any of the cloying or artificial notes that I find in other aromatics. The draw on the MM cob was wide open and the tobacco burned readily from initial light through to the bottom of the bowl. Following Kashmir's advice from months ago, I clench to control my cadence and got a good 40 minute smoke from the bowl, and enjoyed the Trout Stream throughout.
When we got to the lake the skies really opened and the three of us (okay the two two-legs) adjourned to the shelter of some white pines and stood out the worst of the rain, before a leisurely walk back to the car.
Smoking is wonderful. Smoking with a pal, and a pooch, and a nice walk to a big lake... well that's just something you hold onto.
Saturday? Yep, Saturday was awesome.
Happy weekend friends.
