New Hampshire, New Jersey and Rhode Island are considereing reducing their tobacco taxes, hoping to draw smokers from other states and increase revenue.

That is some great news. Hopefully it starts a trend that spreads across the board so us Canadians can enjoy reasonable taxes.

Hopefully idiot Maryland will come to its senses. But Maryland is the most Socialistic state in the union so I very very much doubt it will happen.

I've already secured a mailing address in NJ for my internet ordering. No way am I supporting NY's tax base, and I've let my "representatives" know as much.

Great developments, all. A welcome change from the negative news stories. (China bans public smoking and a lot of talk about plain cigarette packaging are the worst to me, lately)

Ironically, as usual, it is always about the money.
States raise taxes on tobacco to get money and states lower the tax on tobacco to get money by luring purchasers from other states.

No PIPE tobacco tax in PA, yet. It's been considered in the recent past as my email archives are full of my messages to state senator and reps. Some big OTC companies are domiciled here and that helps. I'm sure my small protests did not, even though I got responses from everyone.
