The other day I received my latest box of treats from smokingpipes.com. I had added to my list C & D Habana Daydream. The interesting aspect of this tobacco is that cigar leaf is added. There is also Black Cavendish, Virginia, Perique and Latakia. During my life I have enjoyed the taste of a cigar occasionally. If you smoke this pipe tobacco expecting it to taste like a cigar, you will be disappointed, because all the different tobaccos blend in nicely with the cigar leaf letting itself be known. For those who are transitioning from cigars to pipes, this might be a good tobacco for you. I am enjoying my sample and will probably get more just to have around for a change of pace. Has any other pipe forum individuals enjoyed this tobacco?

Throughout this year, it has constantly in my rotation of tobaccos. I absolutely love it. If you didn't notice, next time try to observe how heavy the smoke is. The cigar leaf makes the smoke "chewy." Oily, also comes to mind. It's a different texture. And, the flavors are wonderful, from hints of those cedar tastes, leather, woven in with those Virginia sweetness's and that touch of a perique spice. I will definitely keep this one in rotation for a while longer.

I think the most cigarish blend I've tried was The Bankers by Foxes. Almost tastes like a cigar that is weirdly pipe like. It's funny I ignored those blends for a long time being under the incorrect impression that they where more cigar then they are. Like a substitute. Then eventually trying them and having to admit that I think they're my favorite style of blend. Although I don't smoke them often, because I believe in savoring the best things and not getting bored with them.

I’m afraid to try “cigar blends” but, one blend I find exceptional and a second that is a delightful treat. Personally, I’m wary of Latakia in “cigar blends” because to me that’s the first indicator that it’s not really cigar-ish unless you like MUWAT. Only an opinion. No longer sharing ones I like the best. They seem to be unavailable when people start praising them. ?‍♂️ But, I hear Billy Bud is fantastic…

I myself have smoked Cigars primarily for years until recently, and Cigar leaf blends in a pipe are something I never really bothered with until recently. I picked up Warped Until the End, and it is an awesome blend.
Does it taste like Cigars? No, not really, but it adds an earthy nuttiness in a slightly different range than a burley might.
I have also taken to saving my triple caps, gonna try cutting them up and smoking them in a pipe, just for poops and laughs. Who knows, it might be pretty great.

If I want the taste of a cigar, I smoke a cigar. However, the closest I have come to a tobacco tasting very cigar like in a pipe is Vincent Manil's La Volute. Very rich tasting tobacco and has quite a decent nic hit.

Logically though, nothing can taste more like a cigar in a pipe, than to use the tobacco from an actual cigar.
It may not taste exactly like a cigar when smoked in a pipe, but that's no big deal to me.
Not criticizing anyone's personal preference.

Cigar leaf in a pipe does not approximate a cigar, though you will recognize that component in a blend. Cigar leaf is a tasty condiment in a pipe blend, and I haven't added it to any mix that I didn't enjoy, though I was thoughtful about what I was mixing it with. I find it a little better with burley and burley based blends, though it is tasty in sparing quantities with Virginias.

The old F&T Wingate Mixture had some cigar leaf blended in . I love it ; there are 4 tins in the cellar and on rare occassion I open one and savour a few bowls. The old Dunhill Cuban Mixture ( now My Mixture 1167 ) had plenty Havana Filler leaf blended in .
I own one ancient tin ( paper label ) and every now and then I rehydrate a generous bowl ( tea strainer ,steam from the kettle ) .
The tobacco is almost fine as dust ( not because of aging ) , so packing a bowl is simple loading and trust on gravity . Somewhat peppery at first and halfway the bowl deliciously sweet.

I don't know what is the matter with me. I love cigars and I enjoy a pipe but can't stand tobaccos that mix the two. When I smoke a cigar I want it to taste like a cigar and when I smoke a pipe I want the taste of pipe tobacco.

My favorite so far has been Billy Budd, though the last pound of it that I bought tasted dull compared to previous purchases. Don’t know if I’ve changed or if the blend has changed some. I’ll have to try some Habana Daydream some time.
