A Gumnut at last.....

I’ve always thought the Bullfrog “gumnut” to be a bit of an oddity - and so sat on the fence. Recently, when in Spain, we walked through a lot of eucalyptus forests, and saw a lot of the pod lying on the ground. Where I grew up, we called the trees “bluegums “ (because of their resin) and used the gumnut (seed pods) as catapult ammo.

Anyway, I thought a gumnut pipe would be an excellent reminder of our hike. No sooner were we back in Canada, than Ernie at WCC offered a few for sale.

The pipe is wonderfully made, and a real piece of art. Vegemite is... well, it’s Vegemite - the principal method 70s mums in the colonies used to fortify their little rugger monsters....

Here is one for comparison

You use the Vegemite to build a quick carbon layer in the bowl, it's how we break in pipes in Australia. Usually at breakfast time.

I think @Ahi Ka uses Marmite being a Kiwi.

Yep marmite really brings the flavour out. Was a secret ingredient in the old condor if I’m not mistaken

Where I live in Canada, there is Marmite with the normal groceries, but Vegemite is found in the "ethnic" aisle.

I was first introduced to Vegemite when I was a child by my South African relatives, I didn't know it was an Australian thing until I heard the Men at Work song.

I have family in Australia and I instantly loved Vegemite. Ever since they brought a jar to sample, I’ve been buying it by the case. I like it on buttered toast and probably smeared onto things even Aussies wouldn’t think to do.
