Before we got married, Laura lived with my parents for a couple weeks, until she could move in with me. During that period she once drove past my handicapped dad, who was using a hoe in the garden next to the house. Suddenly he started waving his arms, so she backed up.

"Did you want to tell me something?"

"Yes, You just drove over my crutches. Twice"

My wife ran over my foot once...A while ago.
We wanted to pick up a bottle of rum for the weekend, and so when she pulled up in the parking lot (dirt road on the side of the building really...) it was on a little incline. She stopped the car, I got out but she was talking to one of our friends that got there before us and didn't see my open the door to get out. And she backs up for whatever reason... over my foot. Thats love.
Didn't hurt too much, nothing broken, just a squished foot. But she felt bad and I jokingly kept reminding her every time My drink was getting low.
"I'd get it myself, but I was the victim of a hit and run today."

It's always nice to get off on the right foot with the in-laws.
Just curious... does your wife think the story is funny? :)

In 1976 my fresh new wife was going to the store in my 70 Mach I. I was working on the 67 Nova next to it and had my tools behind it. I told her to be careful when backing up not to run over them. So she opened the door to the Mach I to look down at the ground as she backed up. The door edge caught the rear bumper of the Nova, ripping it off and jamming the Mach I door into the pillar post. $980 later and about a month, and I was speaking to her again. That was a lot of money in '76. 36 years later, she still can't back up.

Since we just had our 20th anniversary, I was thinking about all the fun times we had dating and in those first years. Yes, she still finds the story funny. I seem to remember the crutches were fine. Dad once ran over his crutches with the lawnmower. That was less fine. Marriage can be so much fun, or very miserable.
