The Savinelli 904 yachtsman has been a focus of my collecting for a while, and most of my collection was acquired for under $30. A piece that I bought a few weeks ago, fell into their "Fiammata" line, which I had never heard of, was a bargain at $26. Just for fun, I was looking up Fiammata today, and found something stunning on their Pipedia page. The blocks that Fiammatas were carved from were originally selected to go into their Giubileo D'Oro line! Slight defects knocked them down to a second, but wow! Makes me feel like I bought gold for pennies!

Great news indeed! Now just set 3 brass dots on the stem. Oh yeah, the captain be stylin!
 I've had my eye on a Giubileo D'Oro, but man those are expensive. Will likely crack though.

That's an interesting bit of information. It's interesting how the lightest of flaws can change a pipes grade. That is a lovely 904.

The only thing wrong with mine was some oxidation. Easy fix, and a great pipe!

I has dings being an old estate, but as far as the briar, there is a small brainless patch between the bowl and shank on the left side. Other than that, it is nearly straight grain.
